PROJECT QUESTION: Is the 2-inch conduit feeding the lights and navaids to be PVC/RMC or just rigid metal conduit. Note that the plans sheet SL5 calls out RMC and the specification section S-2.4 calls out Metallic conduit under A.2 and A.3 calls out PVC/RMC. What style of pipe is required for the following? a. 1240 conduit system signals, b. 1280 2-inch Rigid Metal Conduit c. 1340 electrical light system.

Question:
Is the 2-inch conduit feeding the lights and navaids to be PVC/RMC or just rigid metal conduit.

Response:
The conduit embedded in the deck, and looping in and out of the hand holes is rigid metal conduit, the conduit exiting the junction box and going to the roadway light pole is liquidtight flexible metal conduit, the conduit exiting the junction box and going to face of the structure is liquidtight flexible metal conduit, the run from the face of the structure to the navigation lighting assembly is PVC coated rigid metal conduit up to the final connection, at which point it transitions back to liquidtight flexible metal conduit. See sheet SL5.
a. 1240 conduit system signals - Assuming the question asking for the material in the inner barrier shown on sheet B151, the material is covered in SB-25 and the MnDOT Standard Specifications for Construction. Do not understand what 1240 is in the question.
b. 1280 2-inch Rigid Metal Conduit ? Do not understand what the 1280 is in the question. Regarding the 2-inch Rigid Metal Conduit, rigid galvanized steel conduit is needed, see specification section SL-1.4.A.2.
c. 1340 electrical light system ? Do not understand what the 1340 is in the question. Regarding the electrical light system, Assuming the full description of the item being asked about is ?Electrical Light System (Navigation)? then the last paragraph of specification section SL-2.4.L this includes the conduit run from the face of the structure to the navigation lighting assembly which is PVC coated rigid metal conduit up to the final connection, at which point it transitions back to liquidtight flexible metal conduit. See sheet SL5.
