PROJECT QUESTION: Is Structural Concrete Special equal to Lightweight Cellular Concrete?

Question: In the plans (01_9931 Plan Sheets_001-165.pdf) is Structural Concrete Special equal to Lightweight Cellular Concrete? Lightweight cellular concrete appears in Note 89 on page 10 of the plans. ALSO On page 436/631 (C.2.e) of the specs (MCES Special Provisions) there is language about a 1.5 foot thick layer of permeable lightweight cellular concrete. What are the specs for the mix to be used for the permeable lightweight cellular concrete, or is it the same as the cellular (foam) concrete grout?

Response: Item 2301.607 Structural Concrete (Special) is included in the project for use in the roadbed between Sta 177+00 and 185+70 in lieu of a portion of the aggregate base course and the sand subbase. (Same material referenced within section C.2.e of the MCES-FM Braun Geotechnical Report) The material for Structural Concrete (Special) shall be a lightweight cellular concrete material with a density no greater than 35 lbs/cubic foot and a compressive strength of 200 psi. Contractors shall submit mix design for review and approval by the Engineer.
