Question:
On plan sheet 54 and 55, it shows the all of 24" watermain to be abandoned (2104.603). Then on plan sheet 17, tab M it states that all the 24" watermain is to be removed (2104.501). Furthermore, on the cross sections sheets 116 to 131 it shows "abandoned" and also "to be removed" Please specify what quantity is of the 24" watermain is to be abandoned per spec S-63.1 and what quantity is to be removed.

Answer:
Sheets 54 and 55 show to remove the existing 24" abandoned watermain in locations as highlighted by the line type noted in the Legend on sheets 54 and 55. The 24" watermain is currently out-of-service (abandoned) east of the existing fire hydrant located in the northwest corner of the 2nd Street and CSAH 153 intersection. A portion of the existing 24" abandoned watermain beneath the existing railroad tracks is to remain in the ground and called out to be abandoned per the note on sheet 54.

The text included on the cross section sheets indicates the existing 24" watermain is out-of-service (abandoned) and the "TO BE REMOVED" text is noting that the abandoned watermain will be removed as part of this project.
