PROJECT QUESTION: Sheet B9 of the bridge plans refer to three different types of diaphragms on the plans, but doesn’t describe what is to be done with them? Are they to be replaced? If so, where is it paid for?

QUESTION
Sheet B9 of the bridge plans refer to three different types of diaphragms on the plans, but doesn’t describe what is to be done with them? Are they to be replaced? If so, where is it paid for?

Note on sheet B9 states damage to beam, plates or diaphragms to be repaired/replace by contractor. Is this damage caused by the contractor or any existing damage that may be there also?

ANSWER
The diaphragm information listed on B9 is for informational use only, there is no intent to replace them with this project.

The comment on B9 stating that damages to beams, plates and diaphragms will be repaired/replaced by the contractor at no cost to the Agency is referring to damages caused by the Contractor. All existing damages should be noted and reported to the Project Engineer as soon as possible.
